Faculty surgeons of the division of transplantation perform liver, kidney, kidney/pancreas, islet, and hand transplantation for adult
and pediatric patients as part of the multidisciplinary Emory
Transplant Center (ETC). The liver, islet, and hand programs are the only programs of their type in Georgia.
In 2009 our surgeons performed a total of 171 adult kidney, 26 adult pancreas, and two islet cell transplants as well as 30 pediatric kidney transplants, an increase of almost 14% over 2008,
helping maintain the ETC's ranking as one of the nation's busiest solid organ transplant services. Adult procedures are performed at Emory
University Hospital. Children's
Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston (CHOA), which consistently ranks in the top five largest pediatric transplant centers in the U.S., is the clinical site for pediatric heart
and lung, kidney and liver transplants.
For clinical inquiries and referrals, contact the ETC at 404.712.4444. The ETC
section of the Emory Healthcare website also provides detailed clinical information about the heart, hand, islet, kidney, pancreas, liver, and lung
transplant programs.
