Curriculum

The Emory Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship is a one-year certificate-granting program with didactic and clinical components that address the disease processes and treatment of the cardiothoracic surgical patient. The live and web-based didactic curriculum runs concurrently with the clinical curriculum. Web-based learning activities are delivered via multiple online learning management systems, and written examinations are administered to assess comprehension and retention of knowledge acquired throughout the didactic curriculum.

The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge in both common and atypical cardiac surgical disease processes, as well as build a strong foundation in the general medical pathophysiology that is necessary for treating and managing cardiothoracic patients pre-, intra-, and postoperatively. Clinical and didactic training occurs concomitantly and will be located, in part, at Emory Healthcare's three major hospitals and possibly at Emory's affiliate sites.
