Dr. Ricketts is the Surgical Principal Co-Investigator at Emory of the Pediatric Oncology Group. He has received various teaching awards; was a member of Pediatric Surgery Training Program Directors from 1996-2006; sat on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Surgical Section, 2002-2007; and was a member of the Nominating Committee of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, 2006–2007. |

Amina M. Bhatia, MD

Dr. Bhatia has researched the molecular basis of esophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula and pancreatic development and also studied the etiology of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis. Her clinical specialties include neonatal surgery, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, Hirschsprung's disease, patent ductus ligation and adolescent gynecologic surgery. |

Megan M. Durham, MD

Dr. Durham received her MD at Tulane University School of Medicine. After completing both her general surgery residency and her pediatric surgery fellowship at Emory, she joined the faculty at the Emory-Children's Center. She has clinical and research interest in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and thoracoscopic surgery; newborn surgery; and adolescent gynecologic surgery. |

Kurt F. Heiss, MD

Dr. Heiss currently serves on both the Ethics
and Advocacy Committee (which he chaired from 2005-2006) and the Education Committee of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. He was Chief of Surgery at Children's
Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston from 1997-2000; Program Chair of the Surgical Section in 2002 and a member of the Scientific Committee from 1999-2002 of the American Academy of Pediatrics; and President of the Medical Staff at Egleston from 2003-2004. Dr. Heiss specializes in neonatal surgery, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, thoracic surgery, Hirschprung's disease, inflammatory bowel disease and health care delivery. |

He received his MD at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, did his pediatric residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Rochester. |

Dr. Pettitt was awarded the Association for Surgical Education's 2009 Philip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teacher Award "for national recognition of outstanding abilities as a teacher of surgery." In addition to directing the department’s Surgical Clerkship (M3) and M4 programs and the educational component of the Emory Endosurgery Unit, Dr. Pettitt is participating in a national needs assessment of volunteer surgical faculty from over 250 surgical training programs, co-chairs the School of Medicine committee that is developing methods to assess competency of EUSOM graduates of the new curriculum, and is on the committee establishing the components of the new curriculum for the M3 and M4 years. |

Dr. Wulkan initiated the Minimally Invasive Surgical Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in 2003. Since then the service has grown into one of the most high-volume pediatric minimally invasive programs in the country. In 2007 he performed the first Lap-Band procedure to be done at Egleston to treat adolescent obesity, and in 2009 he was one of the first surgeons in Georgia to perform single-site incision surgery on pediatric patients for routine surgeries. |
