Joseph John Named Executive Administrator and Vice President of Surgical Services
Joseph John, DSc, MHA, FACHE, has been named Executive Administrator and Vice President of Surgical Services, with a start date of June 1, 2018.
Working closely with local department chairs and administrators, along with School of Medicine and Emory Clinic leadership, Joe will oversee administrative, operational, and clinical activities within the departments of surgery, urology, otolaryngology, and the Emory Transplant Center. His role also will encompass the surgical specialties of plastics, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, general surgery, and oral and maxillofacial surgery within the Department of Surgery.
Joe has proven to be an outstanding leader and administrator since joining Emory in 2005. He has served as Division Administrator for Vascular Surgery, Clinical Administrator for the Department of Otolaryngology, Vice President of Operations for Emory Clinic, Administrator for the Office of Leadership and Management Development Programs, an Assistant Dean of Administration at the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, and as Senior Administrator for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Joe received his Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University, a Masters of Health Care Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Doctor of Science in Health Services Administration from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Past President of the UNC at Chapel Hill Gillings Global School of Public Health Alumni Association.
