Melanoma Program Designated a Center of Excellence

The Melanoma Program based at the Winship Cancer Institute has been recognized as one of the first Melanoma Centers of Excellence named by the Melanoma Hope Network. MHN seeks to recognize those melanoma treatment centers and doctors across the United States, both academic and community-based, that offer exceptional care, knowledge and compassion to their patients.

"We are honored by this designation from the Melanoma Hope Network," said surgical oncologist Dr. Keith Delman, who co-chairs Winship's Melanoma Working Group/Multi-Disciplinary Tumor Board. "Our melanoma team is committed to working closely with our patients and their family members and providing the best possible treatment and care. We place great value on communication, research and education."

The multidisciplinary approach of the Melanoma Program at Winship involves physicians, surgeons, researchers and nursing professionals from Emory's divisions of surgical oncology and medical oncology and its departments of dermatology, ophthalmology, pathology and radiation oncology. The program offers innovative treatment options, conducts significant clinical trials and is working closely with the Georgia Cancer Coalition to establish a state-wide network to provide effective and efficient melanoma screening as well as access to clinical trials throughout Georgia.
