Faculty surgeons of the Department of Surgery provide surgical services for the Emory Transplant Center (ETC), Georgia's most comprehensive transplant center and a prestigious, multi-tiered organization committed to providing patients superior quality outcomes and to developing new transplant therapies to prevent or delay organ failure through ground-breaking clinical research. Dr. Thomas Pearson, Livingston Professor of Surgery and director of the kidney transplant program at Emory University Hospital, is executive director of the ETC.
Our faculty cooperate with Emory cardiologists, endocrinologists, nephrologists, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, hematologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and experts in the field of infectious diseases in their performance of liver, kidney, kidney-pancreas, heart, lung, islet, and hand transplants for adult and pediatric patients. The transplant teams at the ETC also include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, transplant coordinators, psychiatric staff, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and financial counselors.
Comprehensive, detailed information about all facets of the ETC can be found at the center's Emory Healthcare-based website, including details on research and clinical trials.
