Year Joined Emory as a Faculty Member: 1988

Since 1996, Dr. Styblo has been consistently named one of America's Top Surgeons and been listed in Best Doctors in America. She has also received three Cancer Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Awards from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Since joining the Emory surgical faculty in 1988, she has has been active both locally and nationally in clinical and translational research. Of particular note are her collaborations with the late Dr. John Bostwick in skin-sparing mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction, with Emory radiologist Dr. Naomi Alazraki in clinical trials to establish sentinel lymph node biopsy as a standard of care for axillary staging, and with Emory plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Albert Losken in the use of oncoplastic reduction to improve the outcome of patients having breast conserving therapy.
