Dr. Fink was chief of the surgical service at the Atlanta VA Medical Center from 1993-2003, is actively involved in studies involving assessment of surgical outcome, and has made sentinel contributions to the development of the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. From 2006-2008, Dr. Fink was co-principal investigator of the most major investigation ever conducted up to that time on the surgical informed consent process, the results of which were published in the June 2010 issue of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and the July issue of Annals of Surgery.
