Welcome to the

Laboratory of Bio/Molecular Engineering and

Advanced Vascular Technologies

Laboratory Mission:

The development of an advance generation of cardiovascular materials, devices, and pharmacotherapeutics based upon the principles of biomimetics, molecular engineering, and nanofabrication technologies. We believe this process will yield important tools for defining the molecular mechanisms which control cellular motility, growth, differentiation, and function - elements which are critical for understanding and modulating atherogenesis, tissue regenerative responses, as well as bioprosthesis design.

Laboratory Vision:

The development of bio-inspired materials and small molecules will provide component building blocks for enabling advances in cell-based therapies, artificial organs, and engineered living tissues, all of which will define the evolving field of Regenerative Medicine.  The success of these endeavors will be dependent on multidisciplinary, collaborative interactions between investigators in diverse disciplines throughout the physical, biological, and clinical sciences.
